The project transforms an existing apartment layout into an open, publicly oriented workspace. The original floor plan was defined by small rooms and functionally assigned areas. These partitions are deliberately removed, exposing the load-bearing structure and interpreting it as a spatial framework.
Rather than adding new elements, the design follows a subtractive approach: non-load-bearing walls and suspended ceilings are dismantled, revealing the building’s structure as a visible ordering system. This shift establishes a new spatial scale, moving from the private logic of dwelling to a collective and adaptable work environment.
The reorganization creates a continuous, permeable layout where space is defined by relationships and transitions rather than programmatic assignments. A new central core consolidates WC connections and a kitchenette, acting as a spatial divider and organizing the surrounding work zones.
Furniture elements – a fine metal frame with transparent acoustic panels – further articulate the space, forming niches for storage and technical installations. Exposed construction, visible building services, cross ventilation, and a movable shading system provide a robust and adaptable working atmosphere.
